"We eat things that grow"
School Visit
(Spring Pricing $500)
Ideal for assemblies or multiple groups, Kalee will read Miss MacDonald Has a Farm and discuss the themes in the book. These could be the growing cycle, gardening chores, parts of a plant, and/or classifying vegetables with eye-catching visuals and audience participation. And of course, there will be plenty of time for Q&A and book signing. This program is best suited for elementary schools and customizable.
Twisting A Classic
This creative writing class will study picture books that have taken a classic story and twisted it into something new. We will dive deep into multiple examples to study how to do it. Then with writing prompts we will work in the moment to try out your own ideas. This class can be modified for any age. Probably best suited for 6th grade to adults.
Find the Refrain
Picture books are meant to be read aloud and a refrain can be an earworm inviting readers to want to read it again and again. In this workshop, we will study multiple picture book examples, diving down deep to the word level to examine why they are effective. Then there will be guided time to brainstorm and work on a refrain to incorporate into your current WIP. As time allows, there will be opportunities for sharing and feedback.
